Platform Access for High-Level Cleaning and Maintenance
Palmer & Co uses our own access platforms through our sister company, Palmer Access, for commercial cleaning and maintenance on buildings where powered access provides the safest and most practical route to the work area. Platform access can be used for high-level window cleaning, gutter cleaning, façade work, bird control and practical maintenance tasks where suitable.
This method is particularly useful where a building has difficult elevations, older stone details, public-facing areas or areas that cannot be safely reached by ground-based methods. Our team plans platform access around the building, the work required and any restrictions affecting the surrounding area.
Powered Access for High-Level Commercial Work
Platform access allows operatives to reach high-level areas from a secure working platform, making it suitable for a range of commercial cleaning and maintenance tasks. It may be used where ground access is available and the building, task and surrounding area allow the equipment to be positioned safely.
Operatives using powered access are trained through the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), supporting safe, competent use of access platforms on suitable sites. Palmer & Co may use platform access for commercial window cleaning, gutter cleaning, building maintenance, bird control and suitable façade works.
When Platform Access Is the Right Method
Platform access can be a strong choice for older buildings, modern façades, awkward high-level areas and jobs where working directly from the building is not suitable. It can also help avoid unnecessary remedial costs where using existing anchors or fall arrest arrangements would not be the safest or most practical option.
It is not always possible on every site. Narrow streets, restricted ground space, soft ground, public routes, traffic conditions and building layout can all affect whether platform access is suitable. Where another route is better, Palmer & Co may consider rope access, reach and wash systems or cradle and BMU systems.
Planning Platforms Around Busy Sites
Platform access often requires careful planning before work begins. The team may need to consider positioning, ground conditions, pedestrian routes, traffic management, permits, road closures, lighting isolations, crane permits or other site-specific requirements. This is especially important in city-centre locations and public-facing buildings.
Palmer & Co plans this work through its wider health and safety process, including access assessment, site-specific RAMS and coordination with the client where required. This gives commercial clients a clearer, more controlled way to get high-level work completed safely.
Trusted by Commercial Clients Across Scotland
Client feedback helps show the trust placed in Palmer & Co by managing agents, facilities managers and commercial clients who need safe, reliable work carried out with minimal disruption.
